Why am I a Hobby Breeder
A Piece of My Heart
When you are applying for a lifelong partner from my home …. You are getting a piece of my heart.
I was not blessed with children. After many losses and heartbreak I turned my focus on the thing I loved most in life, Dogs.
I always surrounded myself with stuffed animals not dolls so I suppose God was preparing me for this glorious substitute for human children.
Why the Toy Australian Shepherd?
Well….they are beautiful & smart.
The Aussies are also a bit precarious…Sassy.. protective…precautious…Athletic…empathetic.
All attributes that I can relate to. We think alike and
I absolutely love them. They are my legacy and I am very proud of them!
Decades in the Making
Twenty years ago, genetic testing was not available to the hobby breeder. Unknown underlying genetic conditions were sometimes heartbreaking, as the puppy developed into later adulthood, manifesting genetic defects.

With my 30 years of experience in dog showing and breeding, I found Tallahassee Genetics. Working closely with them and providing saliva samples, we found genetic elements that identified troublesome traits. Now we are able through Embark and Paw Genetics, to test for over 180 genetic at risk diseases.
With this information, over the years, breeders such as myself have been able to breed dogs with a clear genetic panel.
This Very Special Breed
In spite of the name, Australian Shepherds didn’t originate in Australia. They are an American herding breed, developed in the West.
Their incredible intelligence and athletic abilities attracted me from the start.
They are Family
We raise our puppies in our home environment. They are as part of our family. We make every effort to help them be healthy and well adjusted, exposed to people and animals, and used to going outside to play.
